The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics agency (BMKG) said that a number of major cities in Indonesia are expected to rain, such as Pekanbaru, Medan, Serang, Jakarta, Manado, Makassar and Jayapura.
In a statement quoted on Monday, BMKG weather forecaster Rif’at Darajat explained that the area of wind speed slowdown or convergence was observed extending in Aceh, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, then from East Java to West Java, from North Kalimantan to West Kalimantan, from Central Sulawesi to South Sulawesi, from mountainous Papua to Southwest Papua.
“In addition, the area of wind gathering or Confluence was observed in the Indian Ocean southwest of Java island. These conditions are able to increase the potential for rain cloud growth along the convergence or confluence area, ” said Rif’at.
He said, on the island of Sumatra, the city of Padang is expected to be smoky or foggy, while rain with mild intensity is expected in the city of Pekanbaru and Tanjung Pinang. The city of Medan and Banda Aceh, he said, is expected to rain with lightning and lightning.
Furthermore, Lampung city is expected to be cloudy, and Jambi city is expected to be thick cloudy. Rain with mild intensity is expected in Bengkulu, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang.
